Rangers New Hope
After their relegation in 2012, things looked bleak for Rangers, but 4 seasons on they have managed to claw their way back to the top division of Scottish football, and with their return to the summit, renewed optimism has flooded back into the club. Last season, Rangers enjoyed a great Scottish Cup run, beating great rivals Celtic in the Semi-Finals, only to narrowly miss out on the trophy itself, and they will want to enjoy similar success in this years newly formatted League Cup.
In Martyn Waghorn, Rangers have a truly talented striker who managed to find the net 28 times last season, and if you fancy him to strike again, you can back him as an anytime goal scorer with Betfred at 15/8. If its strike partner Kenny Miller, you fancy to find the net you can also back that at 13/8 with SkyBet
Anytime Goalscorer Odds:
Motherwell’s Leaky Defence
Motherwell will be hoping for a better performance in this year’s competition, particularly as they only reached the 3rd round last season. Despite coming 5th in last seasons division, Motherwell registered a less than impressive goal difference of -16, with only Kilmarnock and Dundee conceding more than their 63 goals.
They will have to dramatically improve to keep out a strengthened Rangers, but if you feel Rangers will have just too much, you can back them to win by a margin of 2 at 9/2 with PaddyPower, or a margin of 3 or more with SkyBet at 5/1
Winning Margin Odds:
Matches played in July are always difficult to call, bit with Rangers on the up you’d have to fancy them to register a win in this group game. Motherwell had many issues at the back last season, and with Rangers fire power up front, it’s a tough ask for their defender to keep their attackers quite.
