Could Second Place Be The Key In British Grand Prix Betting Market

Silverstone Second to Score?

It may be very speculative but it appears to be over-priced. That is the 5/2 (Bet Victor) available about the winner of this weekend’s British Grand Prix starting from second on the grid.

Tips
The winner to be from 2nd place on the grid
   Best Bet
@ 5 / 2
Max Verstappen NOT to finish @ 2 / 1
Top 6 finish for Esteban Ocon @ 15 / 8
Carlos Sainz to finish in the points @ 11 / 10

Our reasoning for this punt is two-fold: three of the past seven winners of this race (since the circuit was reconfigured) started from second on the starting grid. Secondly the Mercedes is undoubtedly the superior qualifying car this season, it has started on pole seven times. That’s good news if you are of the opinion the Silverstone circuit will be more to the liking of Sebastian Vettel’s Ferrari than either of the Mercedes when in race trim.

Max Out?

You can get 2/1 (bet365) about Max Verstappen not being classified as a race finisher, it’s a great bet. The Dutch teenager has only seen the chequered flag twice in the past seven races albeit just one of those five DNF’s came courtesy of crash/damage.

Another seemingly over-priced proposition is Esteban Ocon to finish within the top-six at 15/8. The Frenchman, who could have arguably finished third in Canada, has finished inside the top-six in three of his last five race starts.

Finally Sky Bet’s 11/10 about Carlos Sainz finishing within the points (a top-ten finish) looks a steal. The Spaniard has suffered three retirements this season but has finished within the top-ten in all of the other six races to date
