Croatia v Denmark Odds
Croatia were worthy winners of Group D as they won all three of their games – 2-0 against Nigeria, 3-0 against Argentina and 2-1 against Iceland – to secure what looks on paper to be a relatively easy last-sixteen tie with the Danes.
Denmark produced a mixed bag in Group C as they beat Peru 1-0, drew 1-1 with Australia and secured a 0-0 draw that ensured they would go through as runners up behind the French. It is the fourth time that they have reached the last-sixteen and they are now bidding to reach the quarter-finals of a World Cup for only the second time in their history.
Denmark have met Croatia five times previously, with each side winning two apiece and drawing the other, and it is the Croatians who are 10/11 favourites for victory.
Croatia v Denmark Betting Tips
Croatia are difficult to oppose here but they may have to be patient as seven of their eight goals at this World Cup have arrived in the second-half, which is part of a wider trend as 13 of the last 14 goals (scored and conceded) in their past six internationals arrived in the second period.
Paddy Power go 6/5 for the second half to be highest scoring on Sunday and recent trends involving Denmark would appear to play into the hands of that bet.
Denmark’s last seven internationals have all involved under 2.5 goals (unders is 4/9 this weekend) and featured a grand total of six goals, with only two of those coming in the first half.
Furthermore, Denmark have been level at half-time in each of those past seven matches and Unibet offer a best price 39/40 for a draw at half-time on Sunday. We prefer to find a slightly bigger price and the 39/10 for a half-time draw and full-time Croatia win looks to be the bet with Unibet.
Denmark are defensively solid and can frustrate their more technically adept opponents, but Croatia’s greater quality should tell in the end.
