Denmark v Australia Match Odds
Denmark scored from their only meaningful attack against Peru and were indebted to a missed penalty from the South American nation as they made a winning start to life in Group C. The victory extended their unbeaten run to 16 matches since they last tasted defeat in October 2016 and it is worth noting that 11 of those games have involved under 2.5 goals.
It is safe to assume that Thursday’s match won’t be one to get pulses racing and under 2.5 goals is priced 4/7, although it is a fixture that sees two physical teams go head-to-head and tempers could flare in what is a ‘do or die’ match for Australia.
Bert van Marwijk’s side were unlucky to lose 2-1 to France at the weekend and their lack of a cutting edge could cost them again this week.
They take on a Danish defence that has gone 534 minutes of international football without conceding a goal and the Denmark win to nil is available at 15/8 with Coral, while the Danes are 23/20 to keep a clean sheet.
It is Denmark who hold the edge in terms of head-to-head meetings as they lead 2-1 ahead of what will be their first clash since 2012, and Christian Eriksen will obviously be the man they look to for inspiration again.
Eriksen was quiet in the game against Peru but he has scored 16 goals in his past 19 internationals and he is 5/2 to score at anytime with Paddy Power. A touch of class from him could decide the outcome of this game, with the Danes very much favourites to secure an invaluable win.
