Prince Of Waless Stakes Betting Preview And Tips

Cracksman is one of the elite names lining up at Royal Ascot this week, and John Gosden’s four-year-old is clear favourite at the top of the latest Prince Of Wales’s Stakes Odds as he looks to record another Group 1 success on Wednesday, and if he can reproduce his best form then it’s hard to see him not enhancing his already lofty reputation.

Prince Of Wales’s Stakes Odds

Last seen edging out Salouen in the Coronation Cup at Epsom, Cracksman arguably put up one of his poorest performances in recent times, but he was chasing the runaway leader Salouen from a long way out, and while he passed him in the shadow of the post, he was struggling to handle the undulations of the unique track, and Ascot should play a lot more to his strengths.

A best-priced 8/13 with Betfair Sportsbook, the son of Frankel has shown previously that he can sparkle at Ascot having won the Champion Stakes at the back end of last season, and with five wins in a row it’s hard to see him not cement his place at the head of the betting for the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe and cruise to victory here.

Sir Michael Stoute last won this race in 1991 with Stagecraft, but he will aim to down Cracksman on Wednesday with Poet’s Word, who was last seen easing to victory in the Brigadier Gerard Stakes, but the 4/1 chance with Paddy Power was beaten by Cracksman when the pair clashed in the aforementioned Champion Stakes last season, so it’s hard to see him turning that form around.

Eminent will be the second Frankel colt lining up, but the 11/1 shot with Coral was last seen flopping in the Huxley Stakes at Chester, and even if he were to bounce back to his best that would not be good enough to live with the top two in the betting here in a fairly mediocre renewal of the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes.

Prince Of Wales’s Stakes Tip

When look at the form guide it’s hard to look away from Cracksman, as Hawkbill (12/1 with Coral) was way behind Gosden’s charge in the Coronation Cup, while Cliffs Of Moher, who is a 12/1 chance with William Hill is another that can disappoint on the big stage, and he was last seen finishing second to stablemate Lancaster Bomber in the Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh.

So, with the top two likely to dominate this Wednesday feature you have to feel it should be a penalty kick for Cracksman, who can record his sixth win on the bounce and propel even further up the Flat rankings, and duly secure his place as one of the best horses in training in the world.
